Robert Connely Farr - Mississippi Mud

Songwriter Robert Connely Farr is from Bolton, Mississippi, the birthplace of musical icons Walter Vinson, Sam Chatmon, Bo Carter, and Charley Patton. Farr has received mentoring from bluesman Jimmy "Duck" Holmes in Bentonia, which is just up the road from Bolton. Holmes has taught Farr a specific kind of Delta Blues known as the Bentonia Blues.

Robert recorded and published his full-length album "Dirty South Blues" in 2018 to quick praise from critics. Farr was nominated for both Songwriter of the Year and New Artist of the Year by Canada's esteemed Maple Blues Awards, while KEXP rated it one of their best albums of the year.

This is Mississippi Mud, a new track taken from his new live album "Live at Green Auto". I love the dark mood and the essential sound and arrangement. This is a very old style blues, straightforward and no frills, with catchy vocal lines and very well performed by the band.
