Belgian metal band Fate of Destiny is making waves with their latest release, Silent Struggle, an album that dives deep into themes of resilience, inner turmoil, and personal triumph. Set to drop on December 15, 2024, this 14-track powerhouse blends crushing riffs with haunting melodies, creating an emotionally charged journey for listeners.
In this exclusive interview, the band opens up about the inspiration behind Silent Struggle, their unique songwriting process, and their foray into the NFT space. They also share insights on Belgium’s evolving metal scene and the musical influences that helped shape their signature sound.
This album feels incredibly personal and emotionally intense. What was the driving inspiration behind it?
FD: Silent Struggle is deeply rooted in the human experience of inner battles, resilience, and personal triumph. We wanted to capture that raw emotion, the feeling of being trapped in your own mind but still fighting to push forward. Each track tells a different part of that journey—whether it's about overcoming fear (On the Edge of Fear), reclaiming strength (Rising from the Ashes), or dealing with the cost of victory (Victory’s Cost). It’s personal because these themes are universal; everyone faces moments of doubt, struggle, and eventually, growth.
The title itself, Silent Struggle, suggests an internal battle. Is there a particular story or theme that ties all the tracks together?
FT: Absolutely. The album follows an overarching narrative of someone dealing with internal demons, wrestling with the choice of surrendering or resisting, and ultimately finding redemption. Tracks like Silent Struggle emphasize the fear of opening up and accepting help, while others like Healing Through Time and In the Light of Your Wisdom symbolize finding guidance and healing. The journey is chaotic, painful, but ultimately leads to a kind of rebirth.
Fate of Destiny blends classic metal with modern influences. How did you approach the songwriting and production process for this album?
FT: We wanted to create a sound that blends heavy, aggressive sometimes chaotic instrumentation with deep emotional storytelling. The songwriting process was driven by raw emotion first—we focused on themes and lyrics that reflected real struggles. Musically, we aimed for a balance between classic metal riffs, atmospheric melodies, and intense vocal performances. The production process was all about keeping that intensity intact while ensuring every layer of the music contributed to the overall story.
This album also comes with an exclusive NFT collection. What inspired you to dive into the NFT space, and how do you think it enhances the fan experience?
FT: The idea behind the NFTs was to extend the album’s story beyond just music. Each track is paired with unique artwork that visually represents its theme, giving fans a way to own a piece of Silent Struggle in a different form. By using blockchain technology, we’re offering something collectible and interactive—fans can engage with the album in a way that goes beyond streaming or buying merch. It’s about creating a deeper connection to the message.
Who are some of your biggest musical influences, and did any of them shape the sound of Silent Struggle?
FT: Our influences are quite diverse, ranging from heavy-hitting metal legends to more melodic and experimental acts. Metallica has always been a major inspiration when it comes to powerful riffs and raw energy, while Korn and Sepultura have influenced the heavier, more aggressive aspects of our sound. At the same time, we also draw inspiration from more melodic and atmospheric bands like Muse, bringing in dynamics and depth to contrast the heaviness. That blend of intensity and melody is what defines Silent Struggle—a mix of crushing heaviness and emotional storytelling.
