GUS SEVENTY SEVEN - NINE PATHS IN ONE DIRECTION (2025)

GUS SEVENTY SEVEN is a grunge-rock band from Greece. Established in 2011 and they released their first studio album named "TRAMP" in September 2012 and their second album named "THE EARLY DAYS" in April 2022. Today we will talk about their third album, just released, called NINE PATHS IN ONE DIRECTION. It contains nine tracks, two of which are covers of Soundgarden - Ty Cobb and Alice In Chains - Again

The band commented: "This album is simply the externalization of our love for music and our inner need to create. The composition of the band has changed over the years, and the whole project has become more personal. We love music and do everything about it. So all the albums until now are self-released." and also: "The album was recorded over the last two years, is quite melancholic, and musically is quite influenced by the 90s and specifically by the Seattle scene. It emphasizes lyrically on topics such as depression, loss, drug addiction, self-esteem, the effort to be yourself, but also on politics."

Let's press play, and the first track Torn and Broken starts with high intensity and with heavy and infectious riffs and a catchy chorus as well. The band released an official video. Have a look!

High pace for Future of Mankind, with some early Soundgarden vibes and a fantastic rhythm section. Youth Never Lies slows down the pace a little, but the song is very intense anyway, with very cool vocals. No One Can Save Me, starts with a fantastic riff (great guitars in general) and it features a super catchy chorus. This is probably my favourite song on the album, in I have to choose one. Old Days starts with some old blues vibes. The song is slow, but with a powerful and inspired chorus. Another very good one, with lots of tasty details. Judas is very Alice in Chains (fantastic riffs and tempo signature), same as the final track, Soulful Cries, the longest on the album, slow, powerful, and with Stoner vibes.

NINE PATHS IN ONE DIRECTION is a very cool album, amazingly performed by the band and with a very good production as well. If you are a fan of the sound of Seattle (but not exclusively as there are lots of different details too), give it a go by clicking on the BandCamp player below, and remember to follow GUS SEVENTY SEVEN on Facebook as well.
