The Earth & All Within marks the solo debut of Philadelphia guitarist and songwriter Jim Ellis. Recorded at Milkboy the Studio and Gradwell House Recording, the album features the Philadelphia String Quartet and drummer Mason Ingling (In The Presence of Wolves). Blending rock, punk, emo, classical, and pop with the grand theatricality of Broadway, Ellis crafts a genre-defying sound that challenges conventional music trends.
The brand new single: I Never Liked You (Anyway...) "was one of those songs that came out in 10 minutes after a particularly awful meeting with my shitty boss. I knew I wanted a traditional big rock song for this rock/punk/classical hybrid I've been working on for the last two years so I had the vibe before the hook and once those lyrics came into mind, I knew exactly what the song was", says the artist.
The song features a fantastic and anthemic chorus, a classy arrangement, a quality production and a spot-on performance. I love the guitar solo, the powerful rhythm section, and the energetic and catchy vocals (the chorus will get stuck in your head, I promise!). I Never Liked You (Anyway...) is a very cool song, reminding me of Foo Fighters, especially during the verses.
