Rosetta West - Gravity Sessions (2025)

The latest release from Rosetta West, titled "Gravity Sessions," showcases the band recording live at Chicago's esteemed Gravity Studios over a few quick days. With the respected Doug McBride behind the mixing board, they capture several fan favourites. The band features founder and songwriter Joseph Demagore on vocals and guitar, Herf Guderian on bass, and veteran drummer Mike Weaver.

The album features 7 songs for 25 minutes of music. The album begins with "Dora Lee," which features fuzzy riffs and cool vocals. A good choice as an opener, featuring a cool, slow middle section. You can watch the video here.

Suzie eases into a slower rhythm, bringing in smooth, sensual blues vibes and a relaxed pace (I love the guitars at 1.50). Broken Glass boasts an infectious and groovy riff, along with a cool instrumental break right in the middle of the song. I like the psychedelic vibes for Deeper than Magic, the energetic mood, and the classic rock vibes of Save Me and Baby Doll (very cool rhythm section, they will make you tap your foot). If I have to choose my favourite one, it will probably be Baby Doll, with a quality oriental part in the instrumental break. Venous Blue closes the album with a great guitar intro, energy,y and some pure blues vibes (and some great solos!).

Gravity Session features very inspired guitars, cool vocals, a very groovy rhythm section, and lots of different contamination. A very cool album, give it a go by clicking on the Spotify player below and remember to follow Rosetta West on social media.
