Almost An Artist - Sleep With Your Friends

Almost An Artist is the musical identity of Julian—a lifelong nomad shaped by displacement and cultural fluidity. Born in Beirut during the Lebanese Civil War, his ever-shifting sense of self was forged through years spent moving between countries, languages, and identities. Never fully rooted, never fully defined, Julian channels this flux into his songwriting.

Music became his compass early on, guiding him through a mosaic of influences—from Indian ragas to Nirvana, from ABBA to Dvořák. Though he’s lived in cities across the globe, home remains a transient concept; only music offers constancy.

Now a film composer and producer based in Turin, Julian crafts songs in the quiet spaces between other projects—personal, eclectic works that reflect the fractured beauty of his journey. Almost an artist, always a storyteller.

The artist commented on his latest single Sleep With Your Friends: "We were best friends for 16 years. Then we slept together — once — and she vanished. Sleep With Your Friends is indie rock for the grief of losing a platonic love you didn’t protect." I love the 90s vibes (I can hear some Jeff Buckley) and I love the super intense vocals and lyrics and the very peculiar arrangement, melodic and aggressive at the same time.

A quality song, very original and amazingly performed. Give it a go by clicking on the Spotify player below and remember to follow Almost An Artist on social media.
