The Floor Is Not Lava fuses sonic fragments from across the musical spectrum—Grunge, RnB, Funk, Indie Sleaze—then tempers them with the heat of Pop sensibilities. Their sound swings from shadowy to whimsical, yet always remains earnest. Through these shifting tones, they explore the parts of life that make them yearn for solid ground—a place from which to gain perspective and reshape those raw emotions into something constructive and resonant.
Lydia, their new single, Is an alt rock epic about a strained relationship. I find the song very eclectic, with classy riffs and arrangements during the verses, very delicate, an intense chorus (I love the vocals), and a full-on finale, featuring a spectacular performance by the band (I love the rhythm section there). A very original one, very enjoyable.
Slightly different mood for their other single, Ground, a slow burner one, that features a super catchy chorus, fantastic bass lines and incredible drumming in the last section of the song. A quality song from every point of view. Give it a go by clicking on the Spotify player below and remember to follow The Floor Is Not Lava on social media.
