Valkyrie - Lights Go Down

Valkyrie is a pop/rock band formed in Auckland, New Zealand. The band is fronted by lead singer Omer Gilroy (Nga Puhi, Ngai tahu) and guitarist Rebel Reid (Nga Puhi). On percussion is Jesse Pakipaki, and on bass is Joshua Dolan. 

They burst onto the stage with unbridled energy, accuracy, and participation from the crowd. Among their accomplishments are a national tour, three times as a favourite at the Splore Festival, Soundsplash Festival, and opening for Six60, the biggest band in New Zealand (2021). The debut EP by Valkyrie immediately topped the NZ heatseekers list. Over 2000 playlists now feature their song "Good Thing."

This is their new single, called Lights Go Down. The highlight of the song, in my opinion, is the chorus, which is absolutely killer, with a memorable and catchy vocal line and a great guitar arrangement. Talking about guitars, check also the guitar solo and the riffs, very tasty. Spot on is also the rhythm section, very dynamic and inspired, and also the production is perfect for the genre.
