West Texas Exiles - Charlie

The three singers/songwriters that make up West Texas Exile—Marco Gutierrez (of the Dirty River Boys), Daniel Davis, and Colin Gilmore—have a rich discography. They are supported by drummer Trinidad Leal and bassist/producer Eric Harrison. They are reviving the music scene with a contemporary take of the lone star vernacular, drawing inspiration from artists as diverse as Augustana and Jason Isbell to The Flatlanders and Buddy Holly. The Exile sound is the expanse of the West Texas sky and the intensity of a world where nothing sits still for very long. It is rooted in rhythmic and lyrical honesty.

In May 2022, a tour and their first single, "New Moon Foe," were both released. The group's second song, "Hotel Tomorrow," finest captures the ghosts of southwestern Americana at its best. This is their new single, called Charlie. I really like the pace and the mood of the song, the chorus is super catchy and the overall production is absolutely perfect for the genre. The song is also amazingly performed, in its simplicity, and it will surely make you tap your foot.
