The title Nice To Meet You is a literal handshake with a band whose origin story is as unconventional as their sound. Half the lineup—vocalist Daniel Zulian from São Paulo, Brazil, and bassist Edson Junior from Aracaju, Brazil—joined forces with guitarist Rhett Lila and drummer Brayden Tripp, who relocated to Nevada from Duluth, Minnesota. Their paths crossed entirely by chance outside a snowy Reno metal gig in March 2025.
"Junior and Daniel were at Davidson's talking about how they needed a drummer," the band recalls. "Brayden overheard them and approached. They thought he was homeless and said, 'We don't have any money.' A few weeks later, we had our first practice."
That initial basement jam quickly morphed into a hyper-productive brotherhood. Fueled by 60-hour work weeks, the chaos of everyday life, and a dizzying playlist of influences—spanning from Melvins and Cannibal Corpse to Hermeto Pascoal and the Backstreet Boys—Giant Skunk cultivated something completely their own. "Not quite metal, not quite rock. A little something for everybody," they explain. "System of a Down meets Hermeto Pascoal."
Nice To Meet You captures that exact live-wire chemistry. Forget over-polished production; this record is all about raw energy. Tracks like the ferocious single "Atlas 5-9" catch the band in full-attack mode with crushing riffs and furious vocals, while the stabby guitars on the other singles, "Rat Race" and "Parrot Vacation," highlight the band's knack for writing infectious, groove-driven hooks that stick in your head long after the amps stop buzzing.
